This year I had my Business Computer student attend the 2009 VHS Art Show. Their assignment was to pick and describe their top ten favorite pieces of art and to also tell why they liked each piece. They then were to pick their most favorite and in detail describe why they felt this piece of art was the best in the exhibit. Now the fun part...using a blog. Thus this is reasoning for this blog spot and the result of my efforts follow....
I will begin the assignment with my completion of the tasks. Listed below in this order is the Artist, Name of Artwork, Medium Used, Description of Piece and Why I Liked Each Piece.
Emily Finta
Life's a Puzzle
Sharpie
Geometrical design using a black sharpie on white paper
Excellent use of space, busy yet exact in design
Jamie Walter

Circular designs were interesting
Jamie Walter

Colored Pencil

Contrast was different and it seems that I like art with order and geometric designs
Kaitlyn Flemington
Dragon Flower
Clay/Glaze
Wall ornament/garden décor with dragon flies embedded in clay
I like dragon flies and also like the colors she used
Shelby Goodman
Sunny
Glazed Ceramic
Bowl shaped as a sunflower
Love sunflowers and her design was awesome
Anna Walter
Wallflower
Oil Pastel and Tempra
Picture of yellow flowers with splashes of purple paint
Contrast of the yellows and purples went well together and the form was realistic
Anna Walter
Hibiscus in the Moonlight
Oil Pastel, Acrylic Paint
Picture of purple flowers
Loved the contrast created by the acrylic (cracked background) and use of colors (even though dark colors used, it emerges light)
Antonio Passariello
Picasso
Newspaper Scraps
Picture of man made with tiny pieces of newspaper
Out of all pieces using this form, I liked the structure of this one the best
MY FAVORITE PIECE: Hibiscus in the Moonlight. Reason: It is something I would display in my own home. With the right frame, it would be a lovely piece to display. Nice Job to all the artists.
